When it comes to psychotropic drugs, the patient is not being well informed. Read this great article on Psychotropic Drug Side Effects from our friends at Mental Health Rights ....To quote the article:"Psychotropic drugs do carry side effects, as all drugs do; yet individuals are rarely given the package insert that comes with the prescription. The FDA places severe warnings of psychotropic drugs side effects and the public have a right to know these adverse effects as well as the alternative treatments that are available for the individuals wh...

Guest Post:by Dr. Brian Schneiderof www.drbrianswellnesscenter.comFor many people, healthy junk food appears to be an oxymoron.  In other words, you can't have both even though it seems like a good idea... The great dilemma however, we face everyday, is we must choose between eating from the neck up or neck down.  When we choose to eat from the neck up, as most of us do, we are only concerned about what tastes good, smells good, looks good and feels good.  This is exactly why junk food is the largest addiction in America (over $1...

Dear Donna,   I am actually feeling really good!  I continue to take the hormones and supplements as advised.  Last month, I took an extra dose of hormones for three nights around the time that I usually have a migraine.  I managed to get through the cycle with only a minor headache, and did not need to take the Frova.  Hooray!     Thank you for the follow-up.  I appreciate the help I have received from you and Dr. Edward.    KR, MissouriImage Courtesy of http://www.freeimage...

Q. Dear Dr. Pearson, I have been taking your bio-identical progesterone for a few years and never felt better. But I have a girlfriend that just had a total hysterectomy. She is going to be put on hormone therapy. She smokes and her doctor told her she would have to quit smoking because between the cigarettes and the hormones she would have a stroke. They told her the hormones clot the blood and between the two, it would create major "sludge" that would cause a stroke. I don't smoke, but I wondered if the progesterone I am taking cause...

Q.    Dear Donna, My son is prone to dental cavities and we choose to avoid fluoride. What supplement would you recommend for him to take for prevention? He used to take "bio-dent" by Standard Process. What does Dr. Pearson think about using fluoride? Nattasha, Oklahoma A.   Dear Nattasha,  Coach D said to skip the fluoride and bone up on flossing and brushing two times a day.  I tend to agree with her, as good oral hygiene is a must.  In addition, I would add a good probiotic to any dental regimen. ...

Q.    Hi Donna, What does Doc think of  "fibromyalgia" anyway. Does he think it is a real disease or another diagnosis that doctors come up with when they cannot explain these symptoms? I am not sure myself.  Francine, Wisconsin A.   Dear Francine,  Great question and the short of it is that it is just another diagnosis.  It is a systemic inflammatory condition with multifactorial foundational causes. Fibromyalgia results from biochemical imbalances that we do our best to correct as quickly and natu...

Q. Dear Doc, I am cold a lot and believe that I have low output from my thyrold. I had an ND from a Tahoma Clinic in Tukwila WA run some tests and he ended up prescribing L-Tyrosine and also added Selenium to my regular supplement list. It does not appear to be working, particularly in the winter time. The weather here in Western WA is not as cold as some areas of the country but it does freeze here and that is when it is the most miserable. Exercise does help relieve the cold feeling for awhile but I do feel cold in the house when the ...

Q. Hi Donna: I had a record amount of blood clots during my most recent menstruation. What are they and why? I used to have pain-free periods but now on the first day, I have painful cramps that are short in length but high in intensity. Why is this and what can I do? Thank you as always! Nattasha, Oklahoma A. Dear Nattasha, You have a healthier and more full uterine lining which is sloughing. You were very high in progesterone in the past and though hopefully the detox cleared most out, retesting at some point to confirm would be help...
